DTX Big Health expands into youth mental health with Limbix acquisition
San Francisco-based Big Health acquired Limbix. Both companies develop and provide digital therapeutics for behavioral health and other health conditions.
Digital therapeutics are software patients use for some sort of benefit to their health and are typically proven to be safe and effective through clinical research.
Limbix touts itself as the first-ever company to develop a digital therapeutic for teens and young adults with symptoms of depression that is evidence-based.
Post-merger, Big Health’s portfolio of digital therapeutics includes SparkRx (the Limbix digital therapeutic for youth depression), Sleepio for insomnia and Daylight for anxiety.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Crunchbase.com shows that Limbix has raised $31 million since its founding and Big Health has raised $129 million.
Ashley Clinic joins Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center
Iola, Kansas-based Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center (SEKMHC) has joined with the Chanute, Kansas-based Ashley Clinic to integrate physical and behavioral health.
“It’s a natural progression and partnership,” SEKMHC CEO Nathan Fawson said in a news release. “We will be able to deliver a more comprehensive approach to healthcare.”
Ashley Clinic, a for-profit multi-specialty practice, was founded in 1938. It offers primary care, imaging, medical lab and pharmacy services. It operates two locations — one in Chanute and another in Humbolt, Kansas.
SEKMHC is a nonprofit mental health organization that became a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in 2022. It runs offices in Iola, Chanute, Humboldt, Fort Scott, Pleasanton, Garnett and Yates Center, Kansas. Its core services include outpatient psychiatry, therapy, chemical abuse counseling, case management and skill-building groups.
Provident Behavioral Health merges with another nonprofit
St. Louis, Missouri-based Care and Counseling has merged with the larger nonprofit Provident Behavioral Health.
The two organizations operate six locations, including a residential treatment center: Mary Ryder Home. The agreement was finalized on June 15, 2023, and will create one of the largest behavioral health organizations in the region, according to a news release.
“Joining with Care and Counseling will allow us to expand our footprint within the region so we can deliver exceptional services to even more people,” Kevin Drollinger, president and executive director of Provident Behavioral Health, said in the release.
After the merger, Provident Behavioral Health will care for about 4,000 people in the St. Louis region and field 40,000 engagements throughout the U.S. through crisis hotlines yearly.
The terms of the deal were not released.
H.E.R. Management LLC acquires BeWell Network
H.E.R. Management has acquired Los Angeles-based BeWell Network for an undisclosed amount
Little is known about the deal. Richmond, Virginia-based Matrix Capital Markets Group, who advised BeWell Network on the deal, announced the acquisition in a press release.
BeWell Network is a residential and outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services provider. It operates two luxury recovery brands — Sheer Recovery in San Juan Capistrano, California, and Good Heart Recovery in Santa Barbara, California.
Collectively Sheer Recovery and Good Heart Recovery operate eight service locations. Services include residential care, intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization programs and outpatient services.
Several organizations use similar corporations and brands with the phrasing H.E.R. Management. It’s not clear which engaged in the deal.
Soaak Technologies acquires Tulsa, Oklahoma mental health clinic
San Diego-based Soaak Technologies, a mental health-focused holistic care company, has acquired RenuYou Clinics.
Launched in 2016, Soaak Technologies got its start in wellness by offering several non-clinical services focusing on sound frequency therapy. The company launched a digital offering in 2018, according to its website.
The company claims that listening to sounds with a certain frequency will reduce mental health symptoms such as depression, stress, anxiety and even hormonal health.
“This strategic move aligns with our commitment to offering transformative solutions for mental and physical well-being,” Kevin Cox, CEO of Soaak Technologies, said in a news release. “The expertise and extensive range of therapies provided by RenuYou Clinics perfectly complement our mission to empower individuals and enhance their quality of life.”
RenuYou Clinics offers talk therapy, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), metabolic therapy, neurofeedback, brain mapping, photobiomodulation (PBM Therapy) and alpha-theta therapy. It treats those with depression and anxiety, insomnia, pain and ADHD.
