Monte Nido opens new residential facilities in Texas and New York
Eating disorder treatment provider Monte Nido & Affiliates announced its plans to open two new centers.
The first is a new residential eating disorder center in Conroe, Texas, opening in April. The new center will offer services to adult women with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and exercise addiction.
Dubbed Monde Nido Huston, the facility will offer personalized and evidence-based medical, psychiatric, clinical and nutritional care.
This is the Revelstoke Capital Partners-backed provider’s second facility in Texas. Its other program caters to adolescents who identify as female.
“With eating disorders on the rise, expanding access to life-saving care is more important than ever,” Cassie McLean, CEO of Monte Nido & Affiliates, said in a statement. “This new facility will allow more women in the Houston area to receive the treatment they need and increase their opportunity to attain full recovery.”
The provider is also opening a new New City, New York, facility. This residential facility, called Monte Nido Rockland, will care for adults of all genders with eating disorders.
Monte Nido Rockland is the provider’s sixth residential facility in New York.
Centra and Lifepoint Behavioral Health team up on a new JV
Nonprofit health system Centra announced a new joint venture with behavioral health operator Lifepoint Behavioral Health. Through this JV, the pair plan to build and operate a new inpatient behavioral health hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dubbed Centra Behavioral Health Hospital, the 75,000-square-foot facility will have 72 beds. Construction for the behavioral health facility is expected to start in 2024, with a 2025 opening date.
“Both Centra and Lifepoint share a strong commitment to clinical excellence and innovation,” Amy Carrier, Centra president and CEO, said in a statement. “We are pleased to partner with Lifepoint again as we expand access to critically needed specialty care in our region. We know that there is a significant need for greater access to inpatient behavioral health services across the country, and we look forward to bringing this level of care to more of our patients here in central Virginia.”
The Stepping Stones Group opens a new facility to treat autism
Autism provider The Stepping Stones Group is opening a new center in Fremont, California. The center will offer treatment services for children with autism spectrum disorder, and the space will include individual and group therapy rooms, sensory gyms and an outdoor playground.

The new center will offer a program for children ages 18 months to 6 years old and one for school-aged children. Additionally, it will offer programs designed to help boost a child’s social skills and group learning. Stepping Stones anticipates that the center will create 20 new full-time jobs.
Avera adds a four-story wing to its behavioral health hospital in South Dakota
Avera, a health system focused on the Upper Midwest region, is adding a new four-story wing to its behavioral health hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The new development will add 60,000 square feet to the existing behavioral health hospital. It will also add new services, including 24/7 behavioral health urgent care, observation care, youth addiction care and services and partial hospitalization services for youth.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer expanded and enhanced behavioral health services,” Thomas Otten, assistant vice president for the Avera Behavioral Health Hospital, said in a statement “This wing provides more space plus addresses some previously unmet needs with new services. Avera Behavioral Health Hospital continues our history as a world-class destination for mental health services in a greater way with a wider continuum of care.”
The new location will also include Avera’s senior behavioral health unit. This addition will bring Avera Behavioral Health Hospital’s total capacity to 146 inpatient behavioral health beds and eight residential addiction beds for youth.
Little Leaves Behavioral Services opens an ABA facility geared towards preschool-aged children
Pediatric autism provider Little Leaves Behavioral Services announced the opening of its new location in Frederick, Maryland.
Little Leaves offers Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services to preschool-aged children on the autism spectrum. Its services are targeted at children 18 months to 6 years old and are designed to help children grow their social and communication skills.
The new location will be able to serve 24 clients and will create 30 new jobs. The facility will have room for individual therapy, group therapy and play.
This will mark Little Leaves’ 14th location. The provider operates in Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
