Corporate Retreat Reopens as Addiction Treatment Center

A former corporate retreat complex in Indiana has been turned into an addiction treatment center, according to the News and Tribune.

Summit Behavioral Healthcare officially opened the Henryville, Indiana-based facility last month. Named Wooded Glen Recovery Center, it will be the company’s first residential treatment center in the state. 

Franklin, Tennessee-based Summit BHC operates a total of 18 facilities nationwide focused on drug and alcohol addiction treatment.

The new center started serving patients in September. The in-patient facility has an occupancy of 30 clients and a typical treatment duration of about 30 days, the News and Tribune reported.

Wooded Glen sits on 600 acres of land and features amenities such as trails and lakes for fishing. The next closest in-patient treatment center for addiction and alcoholism is at least 200 miles away, according to CEO Steve Mitchell, who is from Henryville and was quoted in the article. 

“We know that there is obviously a huge epidemic in the country and in the state in general,” he said. “We wanted to be able to create accessibility to addiction and mental health treatment in Indiana. Our goal is to be in-network with the local insurance companies so that the people who are working around here are able to be treated. Your average person who lives here can get treatment in their backyard now.”

In 2018, 50 people died by drug overdose in Clark County, where Wooded Glen Recovery Center opened.
